Following 120MW of solar inverter sales in India, Power-One exhibits key utility grade products at Intersolar India

INTERSOLAR INDIA, MUMBAI, INDIA – December 13, 2011 – Power-One, Inc. (Nasdaq:PWER), a leading provider of renewable energy and energy-efficient power conversion and power management solutions, today announced that the company has sold 120MW of AURORA® solar power inverters to the Indian market during 2011.

Dr. Alex Levran, President of Renewable Energy Solutions at Power-One, said, “This has been a very successful year for Power-One in India with sales of 120MW of AURORA® 250kW & 500kW utility grade inverter products. Many of which have already been successfully connected to the grid. Importantly these AURORA® products will soon meet the LVRT (low voltage ride through) requirements for Indian market.”

This week at the Intersolar India exhibition in Mumbai, Power-One will show the popular AURORA PVI-500, the key 500kW central inverter product already installed throughout the Asian utility market.  For the first time in India, Power-One will also show the AURORA TRIO 27.6kW and 20.0kW commercial three-phase inverter as well as the new category AURORA Vision, consisting of monitoring and control products, services and solutions.

Dr Levran added, “These product offerings highlight our broad array of products and services for the Indian solar market. We are excited to present not only these inverters which combine high innovation content and key features, but also to introduce the AURORA Vision offering which provides greater system control and yield for our customers.”

AURORA PVI-500

This product offers high performance with affordable capital expenditure and has been specifically designed for the fast growing Asian market. Power-One’s 500kW utility grade central inverter has a number a key features, including very high efficiency of 98.5%; electrolytic capacitor-free leading to longer MTBF (mean-time between failures); compact size and weight; touch screen display; and 1000 Voc (open circuit voltage) rating. The product design is the result of the experience Power-One has acquired with more than 100MW of installation in the challenging Asian market.

AURORA TRIO-27.6 and TRIO-20.0

With its two new string inverter products for large roof top applications, Power-One fills the gap between its previous 10.0kW and 12.5kW three-phase products and its smallest 50kW and 55kW central inverters. The new AURORA TRIO-27.6 and TRIO-20.0 benefit from the technology perfected in the PVI-10.0 and 12.5, probably the world’s most commonly used three-phased inverter, which has led the way in best-in-class efficiency. The size, larger than its smaller predecessors, allows the new devices to offer more flexibility and lower wiring cost to installers who have large installations with varying aspects or orientations. Both inverters offer a number of differentiating features, including two independent MPPTs, a special built-in heat sink compartment and an efficiency rating of up to 98.3 percent. The unit is free of electrolytic capacitors to further increase the life expectancy and long term reliability.

AURORA VISION

With the new category AURORA Vision, Power-One helps its customers to maximize the return of investment of renewable energy projects through better understanding and communication between the user and the installation. The new AURORA Vision has three key offerings: software, hardware and accessories. To maximize system energy output while minimizing costs, the software includes a full range of system fault management, diagnostics, asset tracking, performance index and alerting services as well as revenue information.

The hardware section of AURORA Vision offers equipment designed to capture data and environmental information to allow the transfer between inverter, installation and owner. Accessories such as the desktop monitoring system and the EVO Easy control, which help to monitor the performance of connected inverters over the internet, complete the AURORA Vision portfolio.
